Dear Friends,
I was so glad to see so many people come from a far to see the Liberation Monument Ceremonies. Many of you, whom I have never seen before and many who have never been back to Farsleben again. The children of survivors and liberators, who came to Farsleben for the first time must of been amazed what took place here 77 years ago. For some it was hearing what took place here, not having heard the whole story before from their parents, this was the place to be to put all the puzzle pieces together. Emotional and at the same time a very happy day, thank you so much for coming, I will never forget this day. From the start of this project, I felt a liberation monument is not same as a monument to mourn the dead, this is about freedom, which we should not take for granted.
May you wish to visit Farsleben in the future, please contact me for the email addresses and telephone numbers of Daniel Kelewoh of Johanna Mucke.
If you like, you may wish to write your own personal experience in this Guest Book (button top right).
Kind Regards,
Ron Chaulet

Mrs.
Please accept my heartfelt gratitude for all you have created to make this Memorial a reality.
My mother Jean (Gusia) Weinstock Lazinger along with her brother David Weinstock and their parents Sala and Herzl were on that transport. I heard the story of the walk from Bergen Belsen to the 'passenger' train, the journey of the bombed out sites along the way, the coupling with 'another' train, the stoppage between 'a hill' and a ravine to the Elbe River, the tossing of their papers/belongings into the ravine, and being lined up in groups of 5 - thinking they would be systematically shot dead. Alas, German soldiers began to fell and a 'non-German' uniform appeared.
Because my grandfather had sewn together a packet of their 'papers', it got stuck on a branch in the ravine without getting into the wet of the nearby river. Those identity papers helped them progress forward onto Belgium and eventually the US (their papers were as citizens of Nicaragua).
Incidentally, my American born father was in the 30th Infantry Division, but wounded in October 1944 in Ubach, Germany. My parents met in Brooklyn.

greetings
What started with collecting some old postcards brought us to this meeting full of nice and interesting people.
It was a pleasure and honor for us to organize the meeting on August 30th. We've only heard positive things.
Best regards and we would be happy if everyone kept this day in the best memory.
